FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State senior guard Daniel Bejarano has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week, the second weekly honor of his career at Colorado State, and the first conference honor for the Rams this season. The Phoenix, Ariz., native averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the Rams’ two victories over the weekend.
Bejarano began the week with an impressive effort in CSU’s 80-70 victory over Georgia State on Nov. 21, scoring 16 points and pulling down six rebounds, shooting 41 percent from the floor, including 2-for-5 from three-point range, against the Panthers.
It was his performance against Mercer in the opening game of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout that made Bejarano stand out. The 6-foot-5 guard poured in 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-for-4 from deep. For the second time over the weekend, Bejarano pulled down six boards to go along with seven assists and three steals. This led to a dominant 75-62 victory for CSU.
This game marked his 37th of his career with at least 10 points and five rebounds in the same contest, a feat which he has accomplished in 10 consecutive regular season games dating back to last season.
For the week, Bejarano shot 50 percent (11-for-22) from the field, 67 percent (6-for-9) from three-point range and 83 percent (10-for-12) from the free-thrown line.
On the season, Bejarano has posted 17.7 points per game and seven rebounds. The Rams return to the court on Thursday, Nov. 27 vs. Missouri State. The game, which is CSU’s second in the GCI Great Alaska Shootout, will be played in Anchorage, Alaska. Tipoff is schedule for midnight MT. Fans can catch the action on CBS Sports Network.
