FORT COLLINS, Colo. - On Monday, Colorado State women’s tennis coach Jon Messick announced that Rebecca Costa has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Rams beginning in the 2014-15 season. Costa joins the Rams from Windermere (Fla.) Preparatory School.

“Rebecca comes from a really strong section of Florida,” Messick said. “It’s a section that we really haven’t recruited before so I think she’s going to bring a high level of competitive experience. She is also one of the strongest doubles players that we’ve recruited. I think that she’ll make an immediate impact on the team.”

Costa, a three-sport athlete at Windermere, won the Florida under-18 mixed-doubles title in 2013. She also captured the Line 2 Doubles title in 2014. A native of Orlando, Fla., Costa, who hasn’t lost in regular season play since 2012, led her team to three consecutive district and regional championships.

In 2013, Costa received the National Spanish Honor Society award.

Costa, a captain for the Lakers tennis team in 2014, plans to major in criminology at CSU and minor in art.
