EUGENE, Ore. - Colorado State track & field senior Trevor Brown got off to a phenomenal start Wednesday, winning his heat of the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.
The Colorado Springs native ran a time of 49.89 seconds, 0.04 seconds off his career-best time (altitude converted) he ran earlier this season. He placed third overall, winning his heat by 0.51 seconds.
"Trevor had a great race," commented sprints coach Karim Abdel Wahab. "He perfectly executed the plan and comfortably won his heat. He is third going into the final and he will have to fight hard to maintain his ranking or move up."
Action continues Thursday with Brown's chance to advance in the 110-meter hurdles at 6:05 p.m. MT. Kiah Hicks and Jessica Sharbono will also compete in the discus at 3 p.m.
