SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Colorado State was well represented at the USATF Outdoor Championships over the weekend, hosted at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.
Recent graduate Trevor Brown ran in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In Sunday's finale, the five-time All-American clocked 50.21 seconds, placing fourth among the nation's elite.
"Trevor did a great job carting his race plan through the rounds," commented sprints coach Karim Abdel Wahab. "This is the first time in his career he's run three rounds of the 400 hurdles in one meet. Trevor was mentally tough in the finals and had a great finish."
Jessica Sharbono threw the discus on Sunday. She took 15th, throwing a distance of 165 feet, 9 inches on her first attempt.
Distance coach Scott Dahlberg ran the 5,000-meter run. He clocked 14:01.87, finishing in 14th place.
Former Ram and Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach took 10th in the long jump. She cleared a distance of 20-5 on her first attempt. Another alum, Casey Malone, placed 15th in the discus with a best toss of 182-9.
Aaliyah Pete, Collin Scheer and Marcus Harris will be competing for Colorado State next weekend at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. If any of them place in the top two in their respective events, they'll move on to the IAAF World Junior Championships held later in July.
