FORT COLLINS, Colo. – On Monday Head Coach Brian Bedard announced that long-time assistant coach Tim Cawley will be leaving Colorado State to take over the head coaching position at the University of Idaho. Fellow assistant, Cathleen Cawley, will join him up in Moscow.

“Tim and Cathleen have really made a huge impact on our program over their careers at Colorado State,” commented Bedard. “Tim has been eager to move into the next phase of his coaching career and we have tried to support him and prepare him for a head coaching position. It's great that he's earned an opportunity to become a head coach in a quality program. The Cawley's will be missed but their contributions to our program will live on and we will continue to build and move forward with the goals of winning MW championships, graduating student athletes, and representing Colorado State University.”

At 11 years, Tim Cawley was the longest tenured assistant coach on CSU’s track & field staff. He coached Olympian Janay DeLoach to a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Games in London and worked primarily with the Rams’ horizontal jumpers and the multi-events crew.

In an Idaho press release, Cawley was enthusiastic about his family’s new venture.

“My wife, Cathleen, and I are extremely excited for this opportunity,” Cawley stated. “We are excited to be Vandals and are looking forward to getting to work with a great group of student-athletes.”

Cathleen Cawley served as the team’s director of operations as well as high jumps coach. On top of maintaining a roster of 110 student-athletes, Cawley coached a strong core of high jumpers, including recent graduate Ashley Reid.

The search for new personnel to fill the two vacant positions will begin immediately, Bedard said.
