  • Colorado State started the 2014 season with Acacia Andrews, Sanja Cizmic, Adrianna Culbert, Cassidy Denny, Deedra Foss, Kelsey Snider and Jaime Colaizzi on the floor.
  • CSU has won its home opener 14 times out of 18 tries under Head Coach Tom Hilbert. The Rams have now won seven of their last eight home openers dating back to 2007.
  • Saturday marks the fifth consecutive season opener, regardless of location, that CSU has come away with a 3-0 victory.
  • Aug. 30 has been kind to CSU. The Rams are 13-0 all-time at Moby Arena when playing on Aug. 30. Additionally, CSU improved to 6-0 all-time in season openers played on Aug. 30.
  • Dating back to 2012, CSU has won 12-straight regular-season non-conference matches. The last time the Rams lost to a non-conference opponent during the regular season was to No. 2 UCLA (9/15/12).
  • Since 2011, the Rams are 41-3 at Moby Arena. Only Texas, Florida State and Penn State have better home records during that span.
  • The Rams extended their program-best streak of consecutive matches without being swept to 82, a streak that dates back to Sept. 2, 2011.
  • Senior outside hitter Marlee Reynolds led all players with 13 kills on .407 hitting (13-2-27).
  • Season openers have been a particular favorite of Reynolds. In her last three season openers, Reynolds has tallied 33 kills on .483 hitting (33-5-58).
  • As a team, CSU out-blocked VCU, 9.0-4.0. CSU ranked No. 13 nationally in 2013 with 2.84 blocks-per-set.
  • Individually, senior middle blocker Kelsey Snider led the Rams with four blocks, while senior setter Deedra Foss and sophomore middle blocker Acacia Andrews each had three. All three of Andrews’ blocks came in Set 1.
  • Just as strong as it was at the net, CSU was equally dominant in the backline, limiting VCU to just .062 hitting (24-19-80) for the match.
  • Four different players, including three true freshmen, made their collegiate debuts Saturday. True freshman Sanja Cizmic earned the start in her first career match, while fellow true freshmen Jasmine Hanna and Alexandra Poletto made their debuts in Set 2. Redshirt freshman Jaliyah Bolden made her collegiate debut in the third set.
  • Junior defensive specialist Kaitlind Bestgen came one service ace shy of matching her career high. Bestgen had four service aces in the match, including three in the first set.
  • Behind Bestgen’s strong serving, CSU went on 7-0 runs in both Set 1 and Set 2 to give the team a comfortable margin. CSU and VCU were tied at 14-14 in Set 1 and tied at 2-2 in Set 2 before the runs began.
