Rams Quick Hits
• The 2015-16 season marks the 113th in the history of the Colorado State men's basketball program. The Rams are 1,199-1,202 (.499) in 2,401 games all-time.
• Colorado State enters the 2015-16 men's basketball season under the direction of coaching veteran Larry Eustachy, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Rams' program and his 25th as a Division I head coach.
• Colorado State basketball is looking for its sixth postseason appearance in seven years, and its third NCAA Tournament berth in five seasons, in 2015-16.
• CSU lost its top three scorers from last year's team, all starters, and five letterwinners overall, but return starters seniors Joe De Ciman and Tiel Daniels along with Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year, junior John Gillon, and seniors Gian Clavell and Fred Richardson III. Redshirt senior Antwan Scott was granted a sixth year of eligibility and returns to the floor, while the Rams add transfers Kimani Jackson and Emmanuel Omogbo, redshirt freshmen J.D. Paige and Toby Van Ry and true freshmen Prentiss Nixon, Anthony Bonner and Nico Carvacho to the lineup.
• The Rams are 86-25 in home openers since the start of the program and 65-12 in the Modern NCAA Division era (starting in 1937-38). As a matter of fact, CSU has not lost a home opener since Dec. 8, 1980, losing at home to Oklahoma State, 79-64, a streak of 34 straight home-opening victories.
The Coaches
• Colorado State Head Coach Larry Eustachy (Long Beach State, `79) is in his fourth season at the helm of the Rams and holds a 70-32 record at CSU and 472-290 overall coaching record in 24-plus seasons. Last season, CSU posted a 27-7 mark, including 13-5 in Mountain West play and advanced to the first round of the NIT.
• Mike Dunlap (Loyola Marymount, '80) is in his second season at his alma mater with a 9-24 record and 15th seaason as a head coach overall, with a 337-128 record. Last season, the Lions were 8-23 and 4-14 to tie for ninth in West Coast Conference action.
Scouting Loyola Marymount
• LMU posted an 8-23 record overall and 4-14 mark in head coach Mike Dunlap's first season at the helm.
• The Lions opened the season with a win over Cal State Fullerton before dropping a tough decision at defending Big West champion UC Irvine on Sunday.
• Loyola Marymount returns two starters and five letterwinners from last year's team. They have added a redshirt-sophomore, four junior college transfers and two true freshmen to the roster this year.
• Junior forward Adom Jacko led LMU in both games, posting a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds in the home victory over Fullerton. He then followed it up with 17 points against UCI.
A Win Over LMU Will...
• Be the second win for the Rams against LMU in history, as the two teams have met five times previously with CSU winning just one of the two meetings at home and losing all three on the road.
• Give Larry Eustachy his 71st win in three-plus seasons at CSU and the 473nd of his 25-year career. His 69 victories from 2012-2015 was the most in any three-year stretch by a coach in program history.
• Tie Eustachy for sixth in the CSU coaching ranks with his predecessor Tim Miles (71-88 - 2007-12).
• Advance Eustachy's record against West Coast Conference teams to 3-1 while giving him a victory in his first-ever game against the Lions.
• Improve CSU's record versus current WCC teams to 61-106 overall, including 38-33 at home. Much of that can be attributed to the long history against BYU as the Rams and Cougars were in the same Western Athletic Conference for many years and have played 132 times (BYU leads 88-44).
