Tennis Preview: Rams travel south for Mountain West Championships

THIS WEEK
The Rams (8-12, 1-5 MW) enter the Mountain West Championships on Wednesday, April 22 with a 9 a.m. MT date with Air Force. The Rams were defeated by the Falcons earlier this year, 6-1, and haven't defeated AFA since 2009.

The Falcons (17-8, 2-4 MW) are coming off back-to-back losses at Wyoming (6-1) and vs. New Mexico (4-3). Air Force is led by Natasha Rizvi holds a 18-17 record, including 12-10 at the No. 1 position for the Falcons. Chloe Forlini has a team-best 32 total singles victories this year, including 20 in the spring.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State is coming off a busy weekend in which it played three consecutive matches Friday through Sunday. The Rams began the weekend with a road loss at Northern Colorado. On Saturday the Rams lost in their Mountain West finale at Wyoming, before coming home and defeating South Dakota on Sunday morning.

STRONG SEASON
The Rams have won eight matches this spring, the most in a single season since 2011 when the Rams won nine matches... Also performing well is CSU's No. 1 doubles team of Natalie Heffron and Adriana Wojakowska. The senior duo has won 10 matches, the most since 2007 when Emily Kirchem and Hilary Tyler won 17, also competing at the No. 1 doubles spot...The Rams earned their biggest win in over 11 years when they knocked off New Mexico (4-3) at home on April 12.
