Head Coach Christopher Woodard announced the addition of Natalie Grothe on Thursday, becoming the ninth addition to the 2015-16 roster.
“We’re excited about adding Natalie to our roster,” Woodard said. “She is just coming back to the sport after an extended layoff, but she is talented, hard working and comes from a swimming family. She has the potential to make an impact on our roster.”
Grothe, a graduate of Boulder City High School in Boulder City, Nev., capped her senior season with a ninth-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke at the 2014 Nevada state championships, and 11th place in the 200 IM. As a sophomore, she finished third and second, respectively, at the regional championships, and as a junior finished second in both events at regionals. During her freshman campaign, in 2011, Grothe finished seventh at the state championships in the 50 Freestyle.
She has personal best times of 1:08.35 in the 100 Breaststroke, 2:10.32 in the 200 IM and 25.05 in the 50 Freestyle.
Grothe’s high school coach was Sara Carroll, and her club coach – Desert Storm – was Bill Carroll. She intends to major in communications at CSU.
The Rams are coming off back-to-back winning dual-meet seasons, and graduated just four of their 30 student-athletes. Of the 17 individual events CSU competed in, 14 of the top spots are held by returners.
