COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colorado State senior guard Jamie Patrick was named the Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday morning.
Patrick, a 5-10 guard from Hutchinson, Kan., had one of the best games of her career in a CSU jersey in the Rams’ Mountain West opener vs. Boise State, a team considered to challenge for the conference title. Patrick poured in a season-high 27 points, including eight in the fourth quarter.
Patrick was consistent throughout the entire game, scoring 14 points in the first half and 13 points in the second half. The senior guard connected on five 3-pointers, but none were bigger than the game-winning 3-pointer she made with 17.1 seconds left in the game to break the tie with the Broncos. Defensively, Patrick also had one of the best games of her career, drawing the assignment of guarding Boise State’s best player and leading scorer, Brooke Pahukoa. With Patrick guarding her, Pahukoa was held to just four points on 0-of-3 shooting as well as five turnovers. It was a season low in points and field goal attempts as well as a season high in turnovers for the Boise State senior.
This marked the second consecutive game that Patrick has led the way offensively for the Rams. Over her past two contests, Patrick is averaging 23.5 points per game and making 4.5 3-pointers per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc.
This is Patrick’s first career weekly award, and it’s the second time a player from CSU has been honored this season. Junior forward Elin Gustavsson was honored earlier this year as the conference’s player of the week after her play in a 64-63 win vs. Colorado on Dec. 2.
