Rams begin preparations leading up to Nov. 1 exhibition against UCCS

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Fresh off an unprecedented fourth-consecutive Mountain West regular season title, the Colorado State women's basketball team has begun preparations for the upcoming 2017-18 season with its first official week of practice.

Colorado State's Sunday practice from Moby Arena is the first of nearly daily sessions for just over five weeks leading up to CSU's Nov. 1 exhibition against UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs). CSU's exhibition is set for 7 p.m. MT from Moby Arena, while the Rams' official regular season opener against Idaho is set for 5:30 p.m. MT at home on Nov. 10.

CSU enters the 2017-18 season as one of the nation's most successful teams over the past five years in terms of accomplishments in conference play. Other than CSU women's basketball, only 11 other programs in the nation – including women's and men's basketball teams – have current streaks of at least four consecutive regular season titles.

In addition, the Rams' fourth straight Mountain West regular season title in 2016-17 marked the only time in conference history – women's or men's basketball – that any team has claimed the regular season title in as many consecutive seasons. CSU is coming off of its fourth consecutive postseason appearance, as well as its first postseason win since 2003 (def. Saint Mary's on March 16 in WNIT).

CSU head coach Ryun Williams, a two-time Mountain West Coach of the Year, enters his sixth season at the helm of CSU women's basketball. Williams, the architect of all four of those regular season conference titles, enters 2017-18 with a .795 conference win percentage, which currently ranks as the best in conference history.

The 11 returning Rams will be led by a trio of seniors: Stine Austgulen, Veronika Mirkovic and Hannah Tvrdy. However, even with this experienced group, the staff will groom one of its youngest groups over the now-six-season Williams era, as 53.3 percent are underclassmen (eight of 15 players) and 40 percent are freshmen (six of 15).

Season tickets and mini-plans are now on sale, with information on each available here. See below for a full listing of the Rams' 2017-18 schedule.
