Rams add top player in Colorado along with two internationals ranked in WAGR

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men's golf program has signed three to National Letters of Intent, head coach Christian Newton announced today. Davis Bryant, Oscar Teiffel and Akedanai "North" Ponghathaikul will be freshman with the program in the 2018-19 academic year.

"I couldn't be happier with this class," head coach Christian Newton said. "The best player in Colorado, one out of only six from the Swedish Junior team and another top junior from Thailand makes for a great recruiting class. Our assistant coach Elrick van Eck has certainly helped in making a huge impact in our recruiting efforts."

Newton on Bryant:
Davis has accomplished everything possible for a junior golfer in Colorado -- US Junior Amateur appearances with advancing to match play once, selection to Junior Americas Cup teams, his Class 5A individual title, CJGA Player of the Year and the No. 1 player in the state. You can't ask for any more. After my first interaction with Davis three years ago, I knew I wanted this kind of young man on the team.

Newton on Teiffel:
Oscar is a member of the six-man Swedish Junior National team, which has significantly impacted all of their now top pros. Oscar is a very talented young player with many great worldwide junior tournament finishes to back it up. He has terrific fundamentals, and we look forward to having him be a part of the program.

Akedanai "North" Ponghathaikul – Bangkok, Thailand
Ranked #1522 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings… Qualified for the Thailand Open on the Asian Professional Tour, playing with current CSU Ram Parathakorn Suyasri… Made the cut at the event and finished 71st at 2-over 286 (68-71-73-74)… Tied for sixth at the 2017 US Junior Amateur Qualifier in Mesa Verde, Calif. … Played in the 2017 FCG International Junior Championship, finishing in a tie for second at 2-under 208 and winning runner-up honors in a scorecard playoff… Finished fourth in the 2017 Singha Thailand Junior World Championships

Newton on Ponghathaikul:
North has had similar successes that Poon had while playing junior golf in Thailand. He has a great chance to be selected to the Thailand men's National team. I really liked North's short game and variety of shots he can use around the greens when I first watched him. He will be an excellent addition to our roster.
