FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State volleyball player, Amanda Young has been named to the Academic All-District First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday announced by the organization.

Young, who carries a 4.00 grade-point average, while majoring in Food Science and Human Nutrition was named to her district's first team. This is her first national award as she was named to the Mountain West Academic All-Conference and Scholar Athlete teams in 2016 as a freshman.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first-, second- and
third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA. Nominated student-athletes were then selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Gretna, Neb., native has played in all 102 sets this season and leads the defense that has held its opponents to a .173 hitting mark – first in the Mountain West. Young has tallied a team-best 382 digs and a 3.74 set average so far this season, while also holding a .948 reception mark. On the offensive side of the ball, she has 28 service aces this season and a .937 serve percentage.

Colorado State (26-3, 16-1 MW) will close its Mountain West Conference schedule this weekend at San Diego State on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT.
