Oleksak, Hanna named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado State setter Katie Oleksak and outside Jasmine Hanna have been named to the Honorable Mention All-America team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Wednesday. The pair were named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region last week.
Oleksak was named Honorable Mention All-America last season and was the first CSU true freshman to be named an Honorable Mention All-American. The Phoenix native was named ranks eighth nationally in assists and second among all sophomores (Jenna Gray – Stanford). Oleksak has been the cornerstone of the Rams' offense, leading them in assists with an 11.73 set average – first in the Mountain West. She directs the No. 5 team in the country and conference leader in hitting percentage (.316), while also providing .76 blocks per set on defense. Oleksak led CSU in assists in all 33 matches this season and recorded eighteen, 40-plus assist matches. She also set a pair of Colorado State season records for the 25-point rally scoring era, tallying 1,385 assists and an 11.94 assists per set which is the most in the new format.
Hanna earns her first All-America award after earning Mountain West Conference the last two seasons. She finished second on the team in kills (2.96) and also eclipsed 1,000 career kills during the season on her way to becoming Colorado State's all-time kill leader in the modern scoring era with 1,214 kills. Hanna recorded 21 matches out of 33 with double-figure kills, including a season-high 16 at New Mexico and led the Rams in 10 matches in kills. She finished the regular season with a .309 hitting percentage – one of the best marks for an outside in the modern scoring format at CSU.
Colorado State (29-3, 17-1 MW) advanced to its 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament after winning the Mountain West for the 14th time and eighth time in the last nine seasons. The Rams also reached the 20-win plateau for the 23rd year in a row – dating back to 1995.
