Rams at the 2017 Gildan New Mexico Bowl | Day 2

12/14/2017 7:56:00 PM | Football

FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The Colorado State Rams had a successful Day 2 in Albuquerque as they inch closer and closer to Saturday's matchup against the Marshall Thundering Herd in the Gildan New Mexico.

The day began bright an early with a 6:45 a.m. wakeup call for breakfast and meetings, followed by a practice and walkthrough in New Mexico's indoor practice facility. After practice, a number of student-athletes and coaches had the opportunity to visit a local elementary school and hospital, a great opportunity for the Rams to give back the Albuquerque community.

The night was capped off by a team dinner at the Albuquerque Convention Center. CSU and Marshall participated in a game of "Survey Says" -- a "Family Feud"-style competition. CSU's offensive corps of Jake Bennett, Zack Golditch, Olabisi Johnson, Izzy Matthews, Jackson McCullough and Dalton Fackrell won the first round, but Marshall came thundering back to win 2-1 overall.

Bobo Inks Extension
Colorado State University and head football coach Mike Bobo have signed a three-year contract extension. It was announced Thursday by director of athletics Joe Parker. The agreement extends Bobo's original five-year contract, which began in 2015, through the 2022 football season.

In each of his three seasons as head coach at Colorado State, Bobo's Rams teams have qualified for a bowl game and recorded winning seasons. He is the first head coach in school history to lead his team to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons, and one of just two leaders of the program—along with Sonny Lubick—to coach the Rams in multiple bowl games in his tenure.

Gallup named consensus All-American
CSU's superstar wide receiver Michael Gallup was named a consensus All-American by the NCAA on Thursday. Gallup had been named a first-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America, and joins James Washington of Oklahoma State and Anthony Miller of Memphis as the nation's consensus All-American wide receivers. He is just the fourth player in CSU history to earn this status, joining Mike Bell, Greg Myers and Rashard Higgins.
