LINCOLN, Neb. –
Colorado State was unable to gain any momentum Sunday and struggled against an undefeated Nebraska squad, which improved to 9-0 on the spring with a 7-0 victory over the Rams. With the loss, CSU fell to 2-4.

Nebraska jumped out to an early lead with a win in doubles action. CSU’s No. 1 duo of Emily Kolbow and Madison Porter was defeated, 6-1, as was the Rams’ No. 3 combo of Sandra Keta and Solene Crawley. At No. 2, Riley Reeves and Celine Voss were locked in a tight battle and narrowly trailed the Huskers, 5-4, when the doubles point was clinched.

The Rams couldn’t get much going in singles action, but played strong at times. Porter, who was 2-0 on the spring entering Sunday, battled back in a tight second set, but couldn’t hold her one-game lead, ultimately falling 6-4, 7-6.

Reeves also played in a contested matchup at the No. 2 singles spot. After the first set required 13 games, the freshman led the second set before dropping it, 6-3.

CSU will now have a week off before action resumes with three matches in Las Vegas to begin the month of March. The contests will conclude CSU’s eight-match road swing, which began all the way back in January.
