CSU Ties for 17th at The Goodwin

STANFORD, Calif. – Colorado State could not get the rhythm going and tied for 17th at The Goodwin, March 30-April 1. Hosted by Stanford University, the three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at Stanford Golf Course (Par 70 – 6,727 yards) in Stanford, Calif.
The Rams could not get the birdies going and had too many big numbers en route to a 17-over 297 in the last round and a 54-hole total of 47-over 887, tying with Oregon State. No. 12 and host Stanford won the team race at 3-under 837, holding off top-ranked Southern Cal by nine shots. UNLV was third at 10-over 850, followed by No. 5 Oregon at 14-over 854 in fourth and No. 36 Washington in fifth at 20-over 860.
Junior Colton Yates was the top finisher for Colorado State, tying for 46th at 10-over 220 following a final round 1-over 73. Sophomore Jake Staiano was next at 13-over 223 in a tie for 63rd, with freshman AJ Ott next in a tie for 75th at 15-over 225. Senior Blake Cannon tied for 87th at 17-over 228 while junior Max Oelfke was one shot back at 18-over 228, tying for 93rd. BYU's Rhett Rasmussen was the medalist at 4-under 206, one shot ahead of Stanford's Franklin Huang and Harry Hall of UNLV at 3-under 207. Only six players finished under par in the 126-player field.
Next up, Colorado State will head to Chandler, Ariz., to play in the Cowboy Classic, April 10-11. Hosted by Wyoming University, the two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at Whirlwind Golf Club.
