FORT COLLINS, Colo. -Â The Colorado State women's basketball team capped off its 2016-17 season with its end of year banquet on Sunday evening from the theatre of the Lory Student Center.
During the two-hour celebration, the team, coaches, staff and supporters looked back on the many team accomplishments in 2016-17. Of particular note, the 2016-17 Colorado State Rams were the first basketball team in Mountain West history -- women's or men's -- to win the regular-season conference title in four consecutive seasons.
Furthermore, the Rams have won all four of those titles outright. No other Mountain West team - women's or men's -- has won the regular-season conference title outright more than twice in a row. CSU finished with 25 wins, the fourth-most in program history, as well as 15 conference wins, tied for the second-most in program history. The Rams capped off the historic campaign with a WNIT victory over Saint Mary's to pick up the program's first postseason win since 2003.
As part of the festivities, the Rams' two departing seniors -- Elin Gustavsson and Ellen Nystrom -- were recognized for their careers. Each of Gustavsson and Nystrom earned All-Mountain West selections for the season, and Nystrom became the Mountain West's first repeat player of the year in over a decade. The duo finished with 63 Mountain West wins for their careers, which is eight wins more than any women's or men's basketball player in conference history.
The above video was shown at Sunday's banquet, highlighting some of the top team moments from the past season before a nod to the careers of CSU seniors Gustavsson and Nystrom. Watch the video for a look back at the Rams' banner 2016-17 season.
