Rams' Lena Svanholm named Danish Women's League Talent of the Year

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -Â Colorado State incoming freshman Lena Svanholm has been named the Danish Women's League Talent of the Year.
The Talent of the Year award recognizes the top young talent in Denmark's highest level of professional women's basketball, the Danish Women's League. The Talent of the Year is voted on by the league's players. Svanholm, a 6-foot-6 center, competes for the Horsholm 79ers, which advanced to the finals of the Danish Women's League playoffs this season.
In a speech given at the presentation of the award, Svanholm was praised as not just the Talent of the Year, but also, "one of the biggest talents we have had for a very long time...she has most strengths with her face towards the basket - actually, the further away, the better."
Svanholm has played 48 career games for Horsholm, averaging 4.2 points per game over an average of 11 minutes played per game. Svanholm shot 42.3 percent for her career in the Danish Women's League, including a 44.8 field goal percentage this season.
In addition to her experience in the Danish Women's League, Svanholm also gained valuable experience in international competition. Svanholm scored 19 points or more three times during the U18 Nordic Championships, averaging 14.8 points per game with eight rebounds per game.
Competing for Denmark in the U18 European Championships this year, Svanholm averaged 19.9 points per game, including three games with 20 points or more, along with 10.9 rebounds per game. Svanholm averaged 13.6 points during the 2015 U18 European Championships, and averaged the same amount during the 2014 U16 European Championships.
