Oelfke Captures Luxembourg Amateur Title

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's golfer Max Oelfke won the 2017 International Amateur Golf Championship of Luxembourg this past weekend in a thrilling playoff. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at Golf-Club Grand-Ducal (Par 71) in the Centre of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, July 6-8, with a cut to the low 48 players for the final round.
Oelfke shot even-par 71 and 3-under 68 to make the 36-hole cut at 3-under 139 in fourth, three shots behind co-leaders Julian Schinnenburg and Seve Prins. In the final round, Oelfke posted a low of 5-under 66 to finish at 8-under 205 (71-68-66) in a tie with Shinnenburg. The pair matched scores for the next three holes before Oelfke drained the winning putt on the fourth playoff hole to take home the title.
Oelfke will be playing in the German Amateur on July 27-30 in Hamburg at the Hamburger Golf-Club e.V., while teammates AJ Ott, Colton Yates and Pierce Aichinger will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Amateur when they play at Fort Collins Country Club on Thursday, July 13.
