FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's golfer Max Oelfke continued his stellar play this summer as he won a playoff to capture the 2017 German Amateur, July 27-30. The 78th annual four-day, 72-hole tournament was played at the Hamburger Golf-Club e.V. in Hamburg, Germany, with the tournament field  cut after 36 holes.
Â
Oelfke shot a final round 3-under 68 and a four-round total of 12-under 272 (68-68-68-68) to advance to the playoff with Lukas Euler, the only other player in the field with four sub-70 rounds in the tournament. On the third extra hole, Oelfke made a birdie after Euler missed his attempt to take the title.
 Â
"I am really happy about my performance at the IAM of Germany," Oelfke said. "With an outstanding ball-striking performance and killer showing on the extra holes, I saved my second title of the summer. I also confirmed my good play and development over the last couple of months and weeks."
Â
This win comes on the heels of Oelfke winning the 2017 International Amateur Golf Championship of Luxembourg in a thrilling playoff, July 6-8, at Golf-Club Grand-Ducal (Par 71) in the Centre of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. There, the rising senior shot an 8-under 205 (71-68-66) in a to tie with Julian Schinnenburg and eventually win the title on the fourth playoff hole.
