CSU to compete against San Diego State, Fresno State, New Mexico
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State swimming & diving squad is in San Diego for a quad meet where it will face a trio of other Mountain West programs – San Diego State, Fresno State and New Mexico. The single-day meet begins at 12 p.m. MT (10 a.m. PT) on Monday.
The meet is the Rams' first of 2018. CSU last competed as a team at the Phill Hansel Invitational (Nov. 16-18) and the Lumberjack Diving Invitational (Nov. 17-19).
The meet will give the Rams a partial preview for the MW Championships, which will be held Feb. 14-17 in San Antonio.
San Diego State finished second in the MW Championships a year ago, while the Rams, Lobos and Bulldogs finished No. 5-7, respectively.
The Rams have had several standout performers this season. Four CSU swimmers have posted multiple times that qualify as NCAA 'B' cuts. Sophomore Marie Goodwyn (400 IM, 200 Fly), senior Rowan Hauber (100 Back), junior Tonicia Thomas (100 & 200 Back) and freshman Maddie Ward (200 Breast) have all posted such marks.
CSU will host its Senior Meet at Moby Pool on Friday against Northern Arizona. The meet begins at 5 p.m. MT. CSU will then face Northern Colorado the next day in Greeley, Colo., at 11 a.m. MT.
The Rams host Air Force on Jan. 26 (originally scheduled to be in Colorado Springs, Colo.) for their last dual meet of the season. CSU's divers will compete at Air Force for a two-day event Feb. 2-3 before the squad heads to Texas for the MW Championships.
