Hillyer named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second-consecutive week, Colorado State has earned Mountain West Conference Player of the Week awards. This week, middle blocker Kirstie Hillyer was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is the third career conference weekly award for Hillyer.
The redshirt junior helped the Rams earn a pair of road wins last week at New Mexico and UNLV. Hillyer totaled 13 blocks over the two matches, including four solo stuffs to average 1.86 blocks per set. Hillyer recorded a week-best seven blocks at New Mexico, before finishing the week with another six blocks at UNLV. The redshirt junior helped hold New Mexico to a .059 hitting mark and UNLV to a .154 clip – both of which are the second lowest of the season for both opponents. Hillyer also added 20 kills on the week, including hitting a team-best .533 at New Mexico.
Colorado State will again have three matches over six days – this time in Moby Arena, starting on Thursday, Oct. 25 against San Diego State.
