Rams to host Glenn Morris Multi, Fum McGraw Invitational, Doug Max Invitational and Jack Christiansen Invitational in 2019
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team has announced its full schedule for the 2018-19 indoor and outdoor seasons. CSU's schedule was announced by head coach Brian Bedard on Wednesday.
Â
Among the announced slate are four home meets at the new renovated Jack Christiansen Track. Multi-event athletes will compete at the Rams' newly-updated facility for the first time at the Glenn Morris Multi, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22. One day later, full track & field teams will be in competition in the Fum McGraw Invitational (Saturday, March 23). Those meets will serve as the Rams' season openers for the 2019 outdoor season.
Â
The annual Jack Christiansen Invitational will also return this season, and is scheduled for Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. Along with those meets, Colorado State will introduce an additional meet, the Doug Max Invitational, named after the longtime CSU track & field head coach and current CSU Athletics senior administrator. The Doug Max Invitational is scheduled for Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
Â
"It was important to our staff to recognize Doug for his dedication to the CSU track & field program," Bedard said. "He is personally responsible for much of the growth of our current program and we are extremely grateful. Naming the meet after Doug is our way of saying thank you for everything he has done to elevate our program."
Â
Colorado State begins its 2018-19 indoor season at the CSM Alumni Classic & Multi (Golden, Colo.) and at the Air Force Holiday Open (USAF Academy, Colo.) Thursday, Dec. 6 and Friday, Dec. 7. CSU is then off for a month before continuing with the bulk of its indoor season at the two-day Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo., beginning Saturday, Jan. 11.
Â
Other key meets for the indoor season include the Don Kirby Invitational and the Husky Classic, which are among the nation's most prestigious regular-season meets. Each are held over a two-day period beginning on Saturday, Feb. 8. The Mountain West Indoor Championships will be held from Feb. 21-23 in Albuquerque, N.M., while Birmingham, Ala., will host the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 8-9.
Â
CSU's annual trip to California during the outdoor season is scheduled for Thursday, April 18 through Saturday, April 20. Over that stretch, the Rams will compete at the one of the outdoor season's most competitive meets, the Mt. SAC Relays, as well as at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and the Long Beach Invitational. The Rams will also give distance athletes an additional opportunity to run at sea level when they travel to the Stanford Invitational from March 29-30.
Â
This season's Mountain West Outdoor Championships are scheduled to be held all day for four days from May 8-11 in Fresno, Calif. Qualifying Rams will then compete in Sacramento, Calif., at the NCAA West Preliminary from May 23-25 for a chance to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. This year's national championships will be contested from June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
