Five Rams earn all-conference recognition

Goodwyn, Hauber, Rowley, Thomas, Ward honored for a combined 10 different events
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five Colorado State swimmers received all-conference honors following superb performances at the 2018 Mountain West Championships, the league office announced today.
Junior Haley Rowley, who was named the MW Swimmer of the Meet for her standout effort last week in San Antonio, is joined by senior Rowan Hauber, junior Tonicia Thomas, sophomore Marie Goodwyn and freshman Maddie Ward as all-conference honorees.
This group of five helped lead the Rams to their second consecutive fifth-place team finish in the MW Championship.
Marie Goodwyn – 200 FLY, 400 IM
Goodwyn earned all-conference honors after finishing fourth in both the 200 butterfly and 400 IM events. Goodwyn scored 71 points for the Rams at the championship, placing her in the top 20 overall. In addition to her efforts in the 200 fly and 400 IM, Goodwyn placed ninth in the 200 IM in a program-record time of 2:00.88.
The native of Colorado Springs, Colo., now has four All-MW awards in her career. Goodwyn took 200 fly and 200 IM honors as a freshman last season.
Rowan Hauber – 50 FREE, 100 BACK
Hauber placed seventh in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 100 back to earn All-MW honors. Hauber scored 57 team points at the meet, the fifth-most on the team.
The Baltimore native received all-league recognition in the 50 free and 100 back for the second season in a row, and finishes her career with five total all-league honors.
Haley Rowley – MW SWIMMER OF THE MEET – 500 FREE, 1650 FREE, 400 IM
Rowley was named the MW Swimmer of the Meet after taking home two event victories and tying for the meet lead in points by a swimmer (91). In doing so, Rowley became the first Ram to be named Swimmer of the Meet since Kristen Schneider did so in 2004.
Rowley won the 1650 free and the 400 IM, and posted another podium finish with a third-place result in the 500 free. Rowley set program records in all three events, plus her 1000-yard split during the 1650 free was also a record.
The Lafayette, Colo., native earned all-conference honors in the same three events a year ago.
Tonicia Thomas – 100 BACK, 200 BACK
Thomas posted top-three finishes in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Thomas took runner-up in the 100 after winning the preliminary heat with a CSU-record mark of 52.94. She then took third in the 200, and added a 15th-place finish in the 100 butterfly, to score a total of 67 points for the Rams.
The native of Las Vegas has earned all-conference honors in both backstroke events two years in a row.
MADDIE WARD – 100 BREAST, 200 BREAST, 200 IM
Competing in her first MW Championship, freshman Ward was a standout. She took fourth in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, and placed eighth in the 200 IM.
The native of Walnut Creek, Calif., is now the fastest breaststroker in the history of the program, taking down the records in the 100 (1:01.44) and 200 (2:12.82) events.
