Rams sign Taylor Mole to national letter of intent

Mole joins the Rams with experience playing at the international and club levels in Australia
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's basketball team has signed Taylor Mole to a national letter of intent, head coach Ryun Williams announced on Wednesday.

Mole will compete for Colorado State starting in the 2018-19 season and will have freshman eligibility. She joins the Rams with the capability to play either of the guard or forward positions, and brings several years of experience at the international level and national level in Australia.

"We're really excited to add Taylor to our program," Williams said. "She is a 6-foot-2 shooter and scorer with good length and athleticism, and has the ability to really disrupt the game defensively as well. Taylor will come to us well-prepared, being a member of Australia's elite sports training institute."

The 6-foot-2 guard/forward represented Tasmania at the U20, U18 and U16 Australia Junior Championships, averaging a double-double in U18 play (15.8 points per game, 13.7 rebounds per game) and U16 play (14.4 points per game, 10.3 rebounds per game) as well as a near double-double average in U20 play (11.5 points per game, 9.3 rebounds per game). Mole also averaged a double-double in the 2017 Australian College Championships, tallying 26.4 points per game and 14.0 rebounds per game for Lake Ginninderra.

Mole was also a member of the 2015 and 2016 U17 Australia World Championships squads, and helped Australia to a gold medal at the 2015 Oceania Championships. The future Ram earned additional experience at the prestigious Australian Institute of Sport Basketball Centre of Excellence, which chooses 12-15 athletes per year to develop for future international competition. She was a scholarship athlete there in 2017-18.

Among her honors were the Examiner Newspaper's State Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year selection in 2015 as well as Basketball Tasmania High Performance Athlete of the Year accolades from 2013-17.

Notably, Mole will be the first player from Australia to play for Colorado State since head coach Ryun Williams' tenure began in 2012.
