FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's basketball team has signed Jamie Bonnarens to a financial aid agreement, head coach Ryun Williams announced on Monday.
Bonnarens is a six-foot guard/forward, and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining upon joining Colorado State. The native of Cache, Okla., joins the Rams with two years of collegiate experience at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla.
Â
"Jamie is just a very good basketball player with a very strong skill set," Williams said. "I love the fact that she can shoot it and she can score it. All that, combined with being a very good student and a young lady of high character, and you can see why she will be a great addition to our roster."
Â
Bonnarens earned all-conference accolades in each of her seasons at Cameron, earning First-Team All-LSC (Lone Star Conference) honors this past season and Honorable Mention All-LSC honors following her freshman season. Off the court, the rising junior was recognized as LSC All-Academic for her athletic performance as well as her scholastic work as a chemistry major. The LSC only selects five athletes for that honor per season.
Â
The future Ram is a career .406 (330-for-813) shooter and has averaged 16.0 points per game over her first two collegiate seasons. This past season, Bonnarens led the Lone Star Conference with 17.8 points per game, and ranked no lower than seventh in seven additional categories, including fifth in the league in assists (3.1), sixth in rebounding (7.4 per game), sixth in field goal percentage (.396), fifth in free throw percentage (.787), seventh in three-point field goals (1.5 per game), second in assist/turnover ratio (1.2) and second in minutes (33.8).
Â
In high school, Bonnarens was a four-time all-conference selection in basketball and averaged 16.4 points per game en route to a district title for Cache HS her junior season. As a senior, she averaged 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game to lead Cache to the Oklahoma 4A state tournament. Bonnarens earned a selection to Tulsa World's all-state tournament team that year after averaging 28.0 points per game in postseason play. In addition to basketball, Bonnarens also competed in golf, where she was a three-time state qualifier, and competed in softball as a catcher and shortstop.
Â
Notably, Bonnarens continues a line of recent Rams to join the program with Division II experience, including former Mountain West Player of the Year Gritt Ryder (Alaska Anchorage) and CSU great Emilie Hesseldal (Eckerd).
