Former Ram standout for the program returns to help lead the next generation

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Former Colorado State student-athlete Parker Edens has returned to his alma mater and with his former program as the new assistant men's golf coach, head coach Christian Newton announced today. Edens was a player under Newton, graduating from CSU in 2014.

"My family and I are really excited to be back home in Fort Collins," Edens said. "I am ready to get to work with the team. Christian has something really special going here and I'm excited to dig in and help keep this thing going!"

"I couldn't be happier about hiring Parker, a former player to be our assistant coach," Newton said. "He is extremely loyal and epitomizes a blue-collar work ethic that is part of our culture. He has had success in college and professional golf. Those experiences will make him an invaluable resource to our student-athletes. It's great to have Parker back in Ram Country!"

Edens arrives back at CSU after having spent the last year and a half at the University of Tulsa as the assistant women's golf coach under former CSU women's head coach Annie Young. He helped freshman Lorena Tseng earn All-American Athletic Conference honors and qualify as an individual for the NCAA Norman Regional.

After playing his high school golf locally at Greeley Central, Edens was a student-athlete on the men's team at Colorado State (2012-14) for his final two years after transferring from South Dakota State. During his collegiate career, Edens had 13 top-20 finishes and placed among the top-10 four times. In 2013-14, Edens completed his senior season for the Rams second on the team with a 73.6 stroke average and had five tournament finishes among the top-20. He was the team leader as a junior with a 72.5 stroke average, while finishing among the top-20 in six tournaments.

Edens played three seasons playing professionally, primarily on The Dakotas and the Web.com Tours, where he won a combined six professional tournaments. He also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Colorado State men's golf team at the 2016 Mountain West Conference Championship.

He is married to the former Victoria Russell of Phoenix, Ariz., and they have two boys, Brayden and Keaton.
