Rams Fall at #4 Duke

11/8/2019 9:01:00 PM | Men's Basketball

DURHAM, N.C. – Colorado State battled through the early stages but couldn't overcome a stingy defense in falling at #4 Duke, 89-55, Friday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Rams fell to 1-1 on the young season while the Blue Devils improved to 2-0.

Duke jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but CSU scored the next seven points over 1:30 to cut the margin to one at 11-10. The Rams remained in striking distance most of the first half and were down six at 32-26 with 2:18 to go in the half before the Blue Devils scored the final 10 points of the half to lead 42-26 at the break. Duke then pulled away with a 21-6 run over the first eight minutes of the final stanza.

The hosts shot 53.6 percent from the field and outrebounded the visitors 43-34 for the game. CSU turned it over 18 times, resulting in a 26-15 difference in points off turnovers.

CSU was led by a pair of freshmen as David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens each finished with 12 points, while redshirt-senior center Nico Carvacho had 11 points and nine rebounds. Duke had five players in double figures, paced by Cassius Stanley with 19.

STAT OF THE GAME
