Wright named to All-Freshman team

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Pro Football Focus, using a formula of play-by-play grades and statistical analysis, recognized six Colorado State players at seven positions in organization's All-Mountain West team for 2019, with Dante Wright earning acclaim on the national All-Freshman team for the season.

A trio of Rams – Warren Jackson, Trey McBride and Ryan Stonehouse – were first-team picks. Manny Jones was on the second team, Wright and Anthony Hawkins on the third; and Wright came back with honorable-mention accolades at a second spot.

Jackson, a junior wideout, was the second-highest graded receiver by PFF with an overall score of 89.2, recognizing his 17 catches on 33 contested pass plays. McBride, a sophomore, led MW tight ends in their formulas for overall grade (82.5), receiving (85.0) and run blocking (81.3). Stonehouse was credited with a hang time nearly 4.0 second on average, as well as leading the league with his 44.5-yard net.

Wright was named to PFF's All-Freshman team as a wideout. He tied for second nationally among all freshman with 11 explosive all-purpose plays of 30 yards or longer, six of them covering 50 or more yards, He was third among freshmen in receiving yards (805) and sixth in his class in catches (57). He earned third-team All-MW at receiver and was honorable mention as a punt returner, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt.

Jones, a junior defensive end, led the team with 8.0 tackles for loss and was tied for second on the team with 5.0 sacks in collecting 54 total tackles. Hawkins, a senior, was on the team as a kick returner with his 26.0 average highlighted by his 99-yard touchdown return to open the UNLV game.

Jackson, McBride and Stonehouse were all named first-team All-Mountain West earlier in the week in voting conducted by league coaches and selected media.
