Hougaard-Jensen, Oleksak Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas – The success of Colorado State's volleyball team wasn't limited to the court this season as the Rams had two players named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America Team, the organization announced on Monday.
Seniors Paulina Hougaard-Jensen and Katie Oleksak both earned recognition for their performances on the court and in the classroom. Hougaard-Jensen, from Copenhagen, Denmark, was named to the second team; Oleksak, a Phoenix native, was a third-team selection.
They become the fourth and fifth players in program history to earn the honor, the first since Dana Cranston in 2012. Selections are made through voting of CoSIDA members.
"I'm very proud of both Paulina and Katie for this achievement. They are perfect examples of what we expect our student-athletes to represent in our program – excellence on and off the court," CSU head coach Tom Hilbert said. "The dedication and discipline our fans see them bring to the court are the same attributes they carry in their academic pursuits."
Hougaard-Jensen carries a 3.96 GPA as she pursues a major in business administration. A two-time first-team All-Mountain West performer, she was second in the Mountain West in blocks per set this season (1.34), fifth in hitting percentage (.332) as she finished with 231 kills and 130 blocks.
Oleksak, the three-time Mountain West Player of the Year, was a third-team CoSIDA selection with her 3.79 GPA in Health and Exercise Science. She set the CSU record for career assists in the modern era with 5,083, a total which stands third in conference history. She averaged 11.42 assists per set, adding .82 blocks and 1.96 digs in her career.
