Senior Kelcey Bedard earns weekly conference recognition for the second time this indoor season and the fifth time in her career

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following her performance at the Don Kirby Invitational last weekend, Colorado State senior Kelcey Bedard has been named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Tuesday.

This marks the second weekly conference accolade for Bedard this indoor season. The Fort Collins, Colo., native has now earned weekly conference recognition three times in indoor track & field and five times overall in her career. Bedard is one of four athletes in the Mountain West to receive a weekly conference accolade multiple times this indoor season (Wyoming's Ja'la Henderson, New Mexico's Weini Kelati, UNLV's Destiny Smith-Barnett).

Bedard is one of six members of the Colorado State track & field team to earn weekly recognition from the conference during the 2018-19 indoor season, along with Adam Dawson, Michael MooneyHunter PowellMarybeth Sant and Ronald Sayles. The Rams' seven total weekly conference selections and six athletes recognized this indoor season are each the most of any Mountain West track & field program. No other program has more than five of either. Cole Rockhold was also recognized with a weekly conference honor during the most recent cross country season.

Bedard turned in a personal-best performance in the women's weight throw at the Don Kirby Invitational en route to this week's conference accolade. The senior threw the weight 72-10 (22.20m), a mark that ranks second in program history and second in Mountain West history. Bedard's mark is the best by any Mountain West athlete in just under 14 years.

As of Tuesday, Bedard's mark checks in as the sixth-best in the NCAA this indoor season. In addition, she ranks as the conference leader in the event by nearly 10 feet.

The Colorado State track & field team has the week off from competition before returning to action at the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., next week. The Rams will compete for conference titles from Thursday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 2 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
