MINNEAPOLIS – With 11 different swimmers competing in final events on Friday night, the Colorado State swimming & diving team sits in seventh place at the Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships
Haley Rowley started the night with a second place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.77. Marie Goodwyn followed with a time of 4:23.48, while Grace Siebmann clocked in at 4:21.78, Ida Donohue at 4:24.46 and Jennae Frederick at 4:24.73.
In the 100 butterfly, Julia Box and Elsa Litteken followed each other with a time of 56.24 and 56.48, respectfully. The Rams scored again in the 100 breaststroke as Madison Ward crushed the school record with a mark of 1:00:02, which also is a NCAA consideration cut. Tonicia Thomas added points for the Rams in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.74, which is also a season best.
Colorado State ended the night with an eighth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.27. The relay includes Elsa Litteken, Kristina Friedrichs, Olivia Chatman and Tonicia Thomas.

Mountain West Championships: Day 2
MINNEAPOLIS – The Colorado State swimming & diving team moved up two spots to 6th place at the 2019 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships.
Skylar Williams scored points again for the Rams, this time in the 3-meter dive. The sophomore scored a 295.95 in the prelims before recording a 303.85 in the finals to place seventh and also scoring the highest of the season.
In the swimming events, Haley Rowley touched in 4:50.89 – a season best – in the a-final 500-yard freestyle to scored 26 points for the Rams, while Madison Gordley also added to the team total in the c-final with a mark of 4:58.53, which was the fast time of the season for the sophomore.
In the 200 IM, Madison Ward clocked a 2:00.04, which set a broke the school record set in 2018 by Marie Goodwyn. The sophomore registered the quickest split time on the breaststroke with a 28.83 split on her way to scoring 27 points for Colorado State. In the b-final, Marie Goodwyn added to the point total with a touch at 2:03.42 – a new season high.
Colorado State ended the night with a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay, recording a 3:40.29 touch and setting a season best – less than a second off the school record. The relay was made up of Tonicia Thomas, Madison Ward, Julia Box and Kristina Friedrichs.

"She dropped the fastest 50 split on the breaststroke and that really energized the crowd. She went from fifth at the 100 split and drove up toward the lead. It was phenomenal. She set a school record and that is why we're here. I couldn't happier for her, she is just an awesome kid."
Diving Coach Luke Richmond on Skylar Williams…
"Not only was her prelim performance outstanding, but she hit 6-for-6 dives. It's an extremely tough field, so if you even wanted to qualify for consolations, you need to have a NCAA Zone qualifying score, which is tough enough to do. She finished in prelims with a personal best with a 295.95, which is a huge score. But then to come back around in finals and improved that performance, was just stellar. It was a tough meet. There was some good diving and Skylar is a competitor and duked it out and she made us all proud. We're really happy for her."

Mountain West Championships: Day 1
MINNEAPOLIS – The Colorado State swimming and diving team finished the first day of the Mountain West Championships and already set new records. The Rams set a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.70, while Skylar Williams scored points in the 1-meter dive. CSU currently sits in 8th place with 107.50 points.
The Rams started the day with the 1-meter dive and sophomore Skylar Williams tied for 13th place with a 242.65 prelim score and 256.00 final score, which scored 13.5 points for the Rams – more than the total diving points from the 2018 Championships. Rachel Holland also placed 26th in the preliminaries with a 226.20.
In the second session of the day, Colorado State placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a mark of 1:39.70, which set a new school record. The previous mark was set last year at the 2018 Championships with a 1:39.77. The relay scored 54 points for the Rams and was made up of Tonicia Thomas, Madison Ward, Julia Box and Kristina Friedrichs who all earn All-Mountain West honors for the third-place finish.
The final event of the night – 800-yard freestyle relay – saw the Rams finish in ninth place with a time of 7:26.23 and scored 40 points. The relay group included, Ida Donohue, Andrea Basile, Hope Jestes and Haley Rowley.
