Rams currently 10th late in the second round of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic

One CSU player to finish out his final hole heading into the third round Tuesday morning
CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Colorado State is currently in 10th deep into the second round of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic, March 11. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of San Diego and San Diego State University, is being played at San Diego Country Club (Par 72 – 7,033 yards) in Chula Vista, Calif.
In a tough field featuring 10 teams represented in the 2018 NCAA Regionals, the No. 50 Rams battled an up-and-down first round and finished at 7-over 295 in a tie for 10th. The weather picked up in the afternoon and CSU is currently in 10th at 19-over with one player still to putt out on the 18th hole to complete the round. No. 5 Arizona State is the 36-hole leader at 15-under 561, 10 shots ahead of No. 8 Texas in second at 5-under 571. No. 34 North Carolina is third at 1-under 575, with No. 49 Saint Mary's fourth at 6-over 582. Co-host San Diego State rounds out the top five teams at 7-over 583.
Senior Jake Staiano is the top Ram in a tie for 26th at 3-over 147 after an opening round even-par 72 and a 3-over 73 in the afternoon. Freshman Oscar Teiffel is next in a tie for 39th at 5-over with sophomore Parathakorn Suyasri, while fellow freshman Davis Bryant is one shot back in a tie for 46th at 6-over 150. Junior AJ Ott is the final CSU player in a tie for 80th at 13-over 157. Pierceson Coody of Texas is the 36-hole leader at 8-under 136, two shots better than Mason Andersen of Arizona State.
After completing the second round early in the morning, CSU will start its final round at 9:39 a.m. PT off No. 10, playing with Colorado and Louisiana.
