CSU battles but falls late to host Utah State, 4-3

LOGAN, Utah – Colorado State battled throughout Sunday's match at Utah State but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to the host Aggies. With the loss, the Rams fell to 8-9 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain West, while the Aggies evened their record at 10-10 and 1-3 in the league.
For the second straight conference match, the Rams picked up the doubles point for the early lead. Stella Cliffe and Emily Kolbow earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 while Emily Luetschwager and Priscilla Palermo pulled out a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
CSU pushed the lead to 3-0 as Cliffe earned a straight-set 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 quickly followed by a 6-2, 6-2 victory by Luetschwager at No. 1. Utah State rallied from there to pick up the team win with victories in the final four singles matches, three of them going to a third set for the decision.
NEXT UP
The Rams will return back to Colorado for a road match at Northern Colorado on Thursday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
