Rams add Thomas, Tonje to 2019 recruiting class

CSU now with five freshman to be added to the 2019-20 roster

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's basketball has signed Dischon Thomas (Durham, N.C./Hillcrest Prep) and John Tonje (Omaha, Neb./Omaha Central HS) to National Letters of Intent, head coach Niko Medved announced today.
 
A 6-9 forward, Thomas averaged 15.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 assists per game for Hillcrest Prep, helping the squad to a 35-5 overall record and 15-0 in section. He also played with Compton Magic Select in AAU and has been recognized as a three-star recruit. He previously held offers from UNLV, Saint Louis, UC Irvine, Cornell, Princeton, Kennesaw State, Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge.
 
Tonje, a 6-5 guard, averaged a Nebraska Class A state-best 24.8 points along with 6.2 rebounds per game for the Eagles, leading them to a 22-6 overall record, 11-3 in conference and runner-up finish in the state tournament. He shot 50 percent from the field, 38 percent from the three-point arc, with his 73 triples leading Class A, and 82 percent at the free-throw line, also best in Class A. He set a school single-season scoring record as a senior and earned first team All-State by USA Today and All-Class State All-Tournament team honors.
 
The pair joins David Roddy (Minneapolis, Minn./Breck School), Isaiah Stevens (Allen, Texas/Allen HS) and James Moors (New Zealand) in the 2019 recruiting class.
