CSU to play for second time in history in Cameron Indoor Arena
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State men's basketball team will play its 2019-20 road opener in one of the most storied venues in college basketball, as the Rams will travel to Cameron Indoor Arena to take on Duke on Fri., Nov. 8.
"I think it's a great opportunity for our program and our players to play on college basketball's biggest stage," head coach Niko Medved said. "To play a program with the tradition and history of Duke in an iconic building like this is one that every college basketball player wants in their career. We are looking forward to the challenge!"
This will be the third meeting between the two schools, with the Blue Devils having won both at home and on a neutral court. The last time the programs met was in the 2011 in Durham, N.C., with Duke getting an 87-64 win against a Rams team that had current head coach Niko Medved as an assistant coach on the staff.
Overall against the Atlantic Coast Conference, CSU is 3-9 and 0-2 on road floors, with nine of the 12 games having been played at a neutral site. The last time the Rams took on an ACC opponent was in the 2018 Jamaica Classic, suffering a loss to Florida State. The last victory was in Dec. 23, 2012, as the Rams defeated Virginia Tech 88-52 in the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic.
CSU returns four starters from last year, including All-Mountain West selection and the nation's leading rebounder in center Nico Carvacho. Additional dates and games will be forthcoming in the next several weeks.
