Rams to take part in several nationally-renowned events, including again on national TV in the Western Intercollegiate

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming off its second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, the Colorado State men's golf program will face another challenging schedule, as head coach Christian Newton announced Wednesday his squad's tournaments for the 2019-20 season, his eighth at the helm of the Rams' program. This year's schedule again increases the level of competition as CSU continues to earn invitations to some of the country's top events.

For the second straight year, CSU opens the schedule out of the state of Colorado, traveling to Atlanta, Ga., for the Carpet Capital Collegiate, hosted by Georgia Tech, Set. 7-9. This year's field is another top-flight group of 15 NCAA Division I teams competing, 13 of which were represented with teams or individuals at the 2019 NCAA Regionals.

The following week, the Rams will look to defend their title for a fifth straight year as they welcome 17 opponents from across the nation to compete in CSU's own Ram Masters Invitational presented by Pedersen Toyota (Sept. 16-17). The 54-hole event, now in its eighth season, will take place, once again, at the Fort Collins Country Club.

The field for the 2019 Ram Masters includes regional rivals Wyoming, Denver, Air Force and Northern Colorado. Other teams competing are Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Creighton, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Houston Baptist, Pacific, South Dakota, Utah State, Utah Valley, UTEP and Wichita State.

The Rams will play two more events in the fall.  CSU will head back to the southeast to play in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, hosted by Alabama, on Oct. 7-8. A month later, the Rams will fly to California to again wrap up the fall portion of the slate with a trip to California's famed Monterrey Peninsula, playing in the Saint Mary's Invitational, Nov. 4-6, at Poppy Hills Golf Club.

The Rams return to competition at the Wyoming Desert Classic at Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., Feb. 21-23. The next two on the schedule are return trips, as the squad heads to the Lamkin Grips SD Classic, March 9-10, co-hosted by University of San Diego and San Diego State at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif., and the University of Arizona's National Invitational Tournament, March 16-17, in Tucson, Ariz.  After a year hiatus, CSU will again play in the Oregon Duck Invitational, this year being competed on March 23-24 at Eugene Country Club.

April has a pair of tournaments heading into to the Mountain West Championship, as CSU will travel to the Western Intercollegiate presented by Topgolf, hosted by San Jose State, on April 13-15. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will again feature a top field televised on Golf Channel for all three days. The following week brings a trip to Provo, Utah, for the BYU Cougar Classic, played at Riverside Country Club, April 24-25.

CSU's regular-season schedule draws to a close at the Mountain West Championship, with an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals up for grabs. The MW tourney is slated for May 1-3 at a familiar site, as the event returns to Gold Mountain Golf Club, site of the 2017 MW Championship where the CSU finished as the runner-up. The Rams look to qualify for their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Regionals, with six sites hosting teams and individuals May 18-20. The top five teams from each regional advance to the 2020 NCAA Championships, which will be played at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 29-June 3.
