Forty-four athletes set to join conference champions
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Coming off sweeps of both the Mountain West indoor and outdoor championships this past competition season, Colorado State track & field head coach Brian Bedard will welcome 44 athletes to the cross country and track programs for the upcoming competition year.
The entire class consists of signees from throughout the year, and they cover the gamut of events for the team. Most of them are multi-sport athletes, with a collection of team captains and state champions in the mix. While nine of them have state ties, there is also an international flair with athletes coming from Australia and Guatemala.
"This is one of the largest recruiting classes we've ever brought in," Bedard said. "We've got some key transfers coming in to strengthen some event areas. We also signed some high school seniors who love to compete and win. I think we have solid talent across the board, and several walk-on athletes who will help our team in the near future."
The Rams are coming off a competition year in which they swept both the Mountain West indoor and outdoor titles, the first program to do so since 2011. The Rams have swept the indoor titles twice in the past three seasons, and swept the outdoor titles twice in the past four years.
