Rams add P.J. Byrd to roster for 2019-20 season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's basketball has made another addition to its 2019-20 roster with the signing of P.J. Boyd (Richmond, Texas/George Bush HS (VCU)) to the program, head coach Niko Medved announced today. He will have three years of eligibility remaining for competition.

The 6-1 guard played last year at VCU, seeing action in all 33 of the Rams' games as a backup to an all-conference selection, averaging 1.2 points, 1.1 assists and 9.2 minutes a contest. He saw action in a season-high 20 minutes in a victory at Fordham Jan. 5, scoring five points on 2-of-4 shooting. He also tied his season high two other times with five points at Hampton (Nov. 9) and at St. Bonaventure (Feb. 9). He also saw brief action in VCU's loss to UCF in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

A standout at Bush, he was named the District 20-6A Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior and was an All-State selection in his final year. He was a part of leading Bush to four straight district championship. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports and Rivals, he was ranked as the No. 35 point guard in the country out of high school. He also ran track as a high school freshman.

The Rams now have nine newcomers on the roster for the 2018-19 season. The current roster is listed below.
