NORMAN, Okla. – The Colorado State men's golf program has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as an All-Academic Team, the organization announced. This is the sixth consecutive year that the program has earned it under head coach Christian Newton and the sixth for the team since the list began in 2009.

Junior AJ Ott was also honored as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar for his athletic and academic efforts this season. Ott was named the Colorado Golf Association Les Fowler Player of the Year as the state's top amateur golfer. The junior is one-of-six Rams ranked among the top 950 players in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (as of June 17) at No. 345.

"The balance between academics and athletics has been a focus in our program and the CSU Athletics Department as a whole," Newton said. "For our student-athletes to earn this award for the sixth consecutive year and to make it to the NCAA Regionals again shows they take both parts seriously and strive for excellence in both areas. I am very proud of their work on the course and in the classroom this season."

This year on the course, the Rams had one of their best finishes under Newton, finishing as runner-up for the third consecutive year at the Mountain West Championship, their best three-season finishes in program history, and advancing to the NCAA Regionals for the second time since 2012.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year and have a 3.0 or better team GPA.
