Rams announce 2019-20 schedule

8/1/2019 11:43:00 AM | Women's Basketball

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's basketball team has announced its 2019-20 schedule and will open with an exhibition game against CSU-Pueblo on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. The Rams will have an opportunity to gain success early with six of the first eight games being played in Fort Collins before a conference opponent.

"We are excited about the schedule. It will provide the squad with big challenges and fun opportunities in the beginning of the season," head coach Ryun Williams said. "We play a lot of important games early, and our success will depend on how fast this brand new team grows and learns to compete together."

The Rams are also presented with some big challenges before the 2019 semester ends as they play Colorado on Nov. 22 at Moby Arena and will also have the chance to play Tennessee in Knoxville, Dec. 11.

"The highlight is the trip to Tennessee and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. That will be a treat for us, and playing on Pat Summit's court will be a tremendous honor," Williams added. "It's always special to play Colorado at Moby Arena, and the Mountain West games before Christmas are a new twist and adds to a packed schedule before break."

The CSU's women's basketball team will play seven non-conference home games this season, hosting Chadron State (Nov. 5), Western Colorado (Nov. 10), Northern Illinois (Nov. 17), as well as Incarnate World (Nov.26) and California-Riverside (Dec. 1).

Mountain West play will begin Dec. 4 at San Diego State, before opening its conference schedule at Moby Arena to face the defending MW champions, Boise State (Dec. 7).

CSU will finish its non-conference schedule with three games – at Tennessee, hosting Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 14) and at Tulsa (Dec.21).

The Rams will continue conference play on New Year's Day against Nevada, and will head into the heart of the season with a 16-conference game stretch, including eight being played in Fort Collins.

Last season the Rams didn't have the season they were looking for, finishing with a 2-16 conference record and 8-22 record overall. However, with the addition of some new and talented young players, this team is starting to create a spark and are learning to grow and compete with one another.
