CSU alumnus Laird earns fourth PGA Tour win with victory in Las Vegas

Martin Laird won the tournament with 20-foot birdie on the third playoff hole

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – CSU alumnus Martin Laird birdied the second playoff hole to earn the victory at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. This was Laird's fourth PGA Tour victory of his career and the first in seven years. Laird had previously won the event in 2009 and was entered on a sponsor's exemption.
 
Tied for the lead through three rounds, Laird shot a 3-under 68 in the final round and was tied with Matthew Wolff and Austin Cook at 23-under 261. The trio each made pars on the first playoff hole, No. 18, and then Laird captured the title by draining a 20-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole, No. 17.  
 
With the win, Laird earned $1.26 million, a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and berths in the 2021 Masters in April and PGA Championship in May 2021 while moving into fourth on the FedEx Cup standings. Now in his 14th year on the tour, Laird, has 41 top-10 and 76 top-25 finishes, has earned more than $19.06 million over his career and has made the cut in two-thirds of his 303 events.
