Rams Get in Work at Air Force Open

Select Group of Rams Use Air Force Open for Tune-Up.

USAFA, Colo. – Five personal records set or tied was the storyline for the small group of Rams that traveled to the one-day Air Force Open Friday afternoon.

With it being only a week away from the Mountain West Indoor Championships, the Colorado State track program only sent student-athletes that needed work after an injury or still fighting for the few final positions for the championship roster.

That first scenario fits Kamal-Craig Golaube. The senior is easing back into action and took first in the 60-meter hurdles, tying his personal record of 8.06 that he set last season at the indoor conference meet. Right behind him in second was Andrew Doctor who represents CSU's top performer in the event this season. Making his long-awaited collegiate debut due to various injuries, Liam Mather, a transfer from Iowa, finished fifth in the same race.

Also matching a PR on the men's side was Ryan Eddings in the 60-meter race with a time of 6.90 to take second place. The time is tied for 18th on CSU's all-time list with five other Rams.

In the high jump, Christian Carnahan improved upon his PR by half a foot to score a 6'6.75'' and take third. Fellow Ram, Ryan Blake obtained the same height, but had an additional miss, resulting in a fifth-place finish.

The last PR for the men occurred in the circle from James Heater who tossed the shot put 1'8.00'' farther than his previous best to set a new mark of 50'1.25'' and take third place.

Lauren Jarossy represented the other tied personal record after she matched her 11'5.75'' that she made in the same building at the Air Force Invite.

The MW Championships are set for Feb. 27-29 in Albuquerque, N.M.
