The freshman guard earns the first weekly honor of the year for CSU after leading the Rams to wins over Nevada and UNLV last week

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State guard Isaiah Stevens has been named Mountain West Player of the Week for his performances last week, the league announced today. This is the first weekly award for the freshman and the first for the Rams this season.

The guard led the Rams to a pair of wins this past week over the two teams in second place in the MW, moving CSU up into a tie for second and secure at least a .500 season record for the Rams. He averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the week while shooting 68.8 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the 3-point arc. He hit the game winner as time expired to defeat Nevada, finishing with 12 points, a season high-tying six rebounds and four assists for the game. He then paced the Rams with 21 points in the win over UNLV, connecting on 7-of-8 from the field and hitting all five of his 3-point attempts, including a highly-contested three as time expired in the first half. The Allen, Texas native added five rebounds and five assists in the victory over the Runnin' Rebels. He impacted this week's team performances, as CSU posted its third and fourth highest scoring outputs of the year (second and third in regulation).

For the season, Stevens leads the Rams and is 14th in the league in scoring at 13.4 points per game and is third in the Mountain West at 4.33 assists per game. He has connected on 49.3 percent of his field goal attempts, including 41.4 percent from beyond the arc, as well as going a team-best 80.6 percent at the charity stripe. His 104 assists are third all-time for a freshman and his current scoring average also ranks third among CSU freshmen in history.

The Rams are back in action quickly, traveling to California to take on Fresno State on Tuesday, Feb. 4. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. MT with Rich Waltz and Bob Wenzel handling the broadcast. The audio will be on the Colorado State Sports Radio Network, led by flagship Power 102.9 FM (along with online at CSURams.com), with Brian Roth and Adam Nigon on the call.
