The redshirt senior again led the Mountain West in rebounding in 2019-20

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's basketball redshirt-senior Nico Carvacho received another award today as he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District First Team, the organization announced. He was previously named Second Team All-Mountain West by both the league's coaches and media in separate votes this season. Last year, Carvacho was a second-team pick by the NABC, while being honored first team by the US Basketball Writers Association and the Mountain West coaches and media.

The conference's all-time leader in rebounds and double-doubles, Carvacho led the Mountain West in overall rebounding and conference-only boards for the second and third years in a row, respectively, as the center averaged 10.8 per game overall and in MW action. He joins Kawhi Leonard of San Diego State (2009-10, 2010-11) as the only players to lead the league in overall rebounds two times, both doing it in consecutive seasons and is the first player in MW history to lead in league games three times. A first-team selection in 2018-19, the Frisco, Texas native had 14 double-doubles on the year and 18 games with 10 or more rebounds while also averaging 12.9 points per game on 56.2 percent shooting from the field. His top game of the years was a 21-point, 19-rebound effort in the home win over Omaha on Nov. 16. He also had 17 points and 16 rebounds in the win at Fresno State Feb. 4. For his career, he has 1,414 points and 1,295 rebounds, the first player in MW history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career, and has played in more games (132) than any player in CSU history. His 1,295 rebounds rank 33rd in NCAA history since the organization established the list in 1973-74.
