Four Rams Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

The group is the largest from CSU since the award started in 2006-07

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State men's golf again showed its balance on and off the course by having four student-athletes named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced. Senior AJ Ott, junior Parathakorn Suyasri, redshirt-sophomore Andrew Lafferty and sophomore Oscar Teiffel each garnered the award, the largest group ever from CSU to earn the honor in a single season and increasing the program's total to 19 since the award was started at the conclusion of the 2006-07 season.
 
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team's competitive rounds.
 
This year, the Rams won three tournaments in a season for just the fifth time in program history, despite playing in just six events due to the world health crisis. CSU finished the year ranked 19th in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. Season bios for each of the honorees are listed below.
 
AJ Ott, Sr., Fort Collins, Colo. (Fort Collins HS)
Finished 2019-20 ranked 12th in career scoring for the Rams, averaging 72.71 strokes in 120 collegiate rounds.
 
2019-20 (SENIOR): Played in all six events and in 17 rounds, averaging 71.89 strokes per round (+0.41 to par), prior to the early ending of the collegiate season due to the world health crisis… Recorded two top-five, three top-10 and four top-20 finishes….Had 11 rounds of par or better on the year with four in the 60s… Led the Rams effort in two events… Ranked 60th by Golfweek and 124th by Golfstat at the end of the season… Tied for second in the season-opening Ram Masters Invitational at 3-under 207, leading CSU to defense of its team title… Tied for seventh at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate with a season-best 4-under 206, including a 4-under 66 in the second round, a score that helped pace the Rams to their second consecutive tournament victory… Tied for fifth at the spring-ending Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at 3-under 213, including a pair of 2-under 70s in the final two rounds.
 
Parathakorn Suyasri, Jr., Chonburi, Thailand
Will begin his junior season third on the all-time scoring list for CSU with a 72.04 stroke average in 82 rounds played.
 
2019-20 (JUNIOR): Ranked second on the team in scoring at 70.72 strokes per round (-0.44 to par) in six events and 18 rounds played… Had 11 rounds of par or better with seven in the 60s… Was the top team finisher or tied for it in three tournaments…Had one win along with two other top-five finishes… Ended the season ranked 55th by Golfweek and 80th by Golfstat… Earned medalist honors at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate with an 11-under 199 (sixth lowest 54-hole total in school history) to lead CSU to a team victory over one of the toughest fields of the year… Shot all three rounds under par, including a 5-under 65 in the opening round, his career best… Also tied for third at the Saint Mary's Invitational at 6-under 207 with teammate Davis Bryant to lead the Rams to their third consecutive team tournament victory… Tied for fifth at the Ram Masters Invitational at 2-under 208, helping CSU defend its title.
 
Andrew Lafferty, R-So., Alpharetta, Ga. (Marist HS)
2019-20 (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE): Played in five events and 13 rounds as an individual… Averaged 75.85 strokes per round (+4.77 to par)… Season best was 215 for 54 holes and 69 for 18 holes… Best finish of the season was a tie for fourth at the UNC Individual Event… Also had a tie for 26th at the Mark Simpson CU Invitational with a 1-under 215, his best ranking in a full-field event… Shot a season-best 3-under 69 in the opening round of the CU tournament.
 
Oscar Teiffel, So., Gothenburg, Sweden
Starts 2019-20 ranked 10th on the CSU career scoring average chart at 72.53 strokes per round in 53 competitive rounds.
 
2019-20 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all six team events and 18 rounds, averaging 74.11 strokes per round (+2.94 to par)… Had four rounds of par or better with two in the 60s… Had a season-best 6-under 65 (second lowest versus par round for CSU on the year) in the first round of the Saint Mary's Invitational, helping the Rams shoot their low round of the season at 17-under 267 and eventually win their third consecutive tournament.
