Rams Relief: Eagle Club

Being a long way from home can be stressful.

A quick glance of the Colorado State women's golf roster could suggest there's the opportunity to reside in abundance.  Yet Tomine Bjerkelo says it doesn't, and that's in large part due to the support from the Eagle Club.

"The support of our donors allows us to show up and get to work on our games." she said. "It's all there because of them. It allows us to have one of the best experiences in the entire country. I am so grateful. I really appreciate everything they do for us."

The Eagle Club, the program's booster group, has done much to provide the building blocks for coach Laura Cilek's program. And at this moment, their contributions, as well as those from past letter winners, can help the team through uncertainty.

In a very unprecedented time in all of our lives, Colorado State Athletics and the Rams Club are asking all of our valued supporters to donate or make a gift which will have a life-altering impact on our student-athletes. The financial crisis is real for everyone, yet our primary goal remains to create the greatest experience for our student-athletes. Your gifts will help lessen the impact they feel as they pursue their athletic and educational goals.

"It's huge. We would not be able to compete at the level we compete at without our boosters," Cilek said. "Women's golf is so unique in that every penny you donate goes straight to us being able to compete, recruit and get better every day. It 100 percent elevates the collegiate experience for our student-athletes. It helps us compete on a national level with schools all across the country. It helps provide them the resources to elevate their games, too."

Support from the group not only helps cover travel, but health insurance for foreign players, allows access to the practice facilities they use and aids in recruiting and equipment.

Moving forward, all of those things will continue to provide for the student-athletes thanks to the Eagle Club and others.

"It's going to be massive. I think now more than ever, we're relying on them to help supplement our budget to play in the best tournaments we can, to continue to recruit the best talent across the world and pay for health insurance for these athletes," Cilek said. "It will help us provide equipment for these athletes. It's going to be crucial."

Bjerkelo could not be more appreciative of the experience she's had at Colorado State, and she understands it has been provided in great part by the generosity of the Eagle Club. Her goals in coming to Fort Collins were not only a first-class education, but to become a better golfer and competitor.

He overall development, she said, is possible thanks to those gifts.

"It helps us getting to travel to better tournaments, and all the opportunities we get to practice all over and when we want to," she said. "I mean, it just helps me a lot to be a better golfer, get better at my sport. I am really appreciative of everything they do so we can develop."
