FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Freshmen Lindsay Gizzi and Maya White were announced as the Mountain West diver and freshman of the week, respectively, today, as they helped the Rams win three duals over the weekend to push their record to 10-0 on the season.
Â
This is the second time this year Gizzi has been honored as diver the week, being named so two weeks ago, when she was also the freshman of the week. For White, this is her first Mountain West honor.
Â
The Rams have already won five Mountain West weekly honors this season (Maisy Barbosa was swimmer of the week the first week), the most in any season since the Rams joined the conference in 1999-2000. The program earned four honors in each of the 2013-14 and 2003-04 seasons.
Â
Gizzi was only able to compete Friday, as Saturday's dual did not included diving. She made an impressive debut at Moby Pool by winning the 3-meter competition with a score of 265.43. She came back and placed second on the 1-meter with a personal-best score of 268.50.
Â
White's debut at home was extremely strong as she won both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyles, pacing a 1-2-3 effort for the Rams in their victory over Denver. She posted a 10:29.86 in the 1,000, then came back with a 5:10.13 in the 500. The next day at Golden as the team beat Colorado School of Mines and the University of Mary, she was second in both the 400 individual medley (4:29.65) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.27). White owns the fastest time in the Mountain West in the 1,000 free this season.
Â
Colorado State is set to host Idaho for Senior Day this Friday, starting at 4 p.m.
