Two Stateside and One Overseas Sign with Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A prospect from a family of hoopers is always a good sign and all three who signed national letters of intent Wednesday to join the Colorado State women's basketball program fit that mold in head coach Ryun Williams' 2022 signing class.

The three soon-to-be Rams include Hannah Ronsiek of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Marta Leimane of Ventspils, Latvia; and Jadyn Fife of North Richland Hills, Texas – outside of Fort Worth.

"This is a recruiting class that really excites us," Williams said. "It is a group that genuinely competes and a group with impressive versatility. They all are very conscientious students with great character and come from wonderful families. This will be a fun group to watch develop and a fun group to coach."

Ronsiek comes from O'Gorman High School where she helped lead the Knights to a third-place finish in the 2021 SDHSAA Class AA State Tournament as a junior. The year prior in her sophomore campaign, she along with her sister Emma – now a sophomore at Creighton that earned All-Freshman Team in the BIG EAST last season – led OGHS to the school's best-ever record of 21-0 and obtained the first seed in the state tournament before COVID-19 put an unfortunate end to the run. In both seasons, the 5-foot-11 guard/forward earned all-state second team and all-conference first team, while averaging over 13 points per game. Going into her senior season, she was named to the Prep Girls Hoops 17U All-Dakota First Team and represents the No. 2 scorer, rebounder, and distributor of assists on her team plus the top stealer, showing her versatility. Ronsiek will become the fifth person in her immediate family to play collegiate hoops as both of her parents played and her brother, Luke, is a sophomore at Mount Marty.

"Hannah is a very competitive player with a high basketball IQ and a nice skill set," Williams analyzed. "Her ability to shoot the basketball and play multiple positions really excites us. She has been very well coached by her high school and club programs and is a player that loves the gym."

Last week, Leimane was named to the Latvia National Team preparing for the 2023 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers, which begins on Thursday. On the men's team, you'll find her cousin, Tom Leimanis, who also plays for Tsmoki-Minsk in the VTB United League aka the first tier of Russian professional league. At 5-10, Leimane is a swing player that balances scoring and facilitating. Earlier this year at the FIBA U18 Women's European Challengers, she was second on the team in scoring with 9.0 ppg, while contributing 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Traveling around to arenas is nothing new to Leimane who has participated in Estonian and Lithuanian leagues. Last year, Leimane and her TTT Riga junior team won the Champions of Baltic Basketball league. She will be Williams' second student-athlete from Latvia, joining Anna Dreimane (2016-2018).

"Marta is a nice athlete with good length," Williams said. "We really like her ability to play in the ball screen and her ability to get into the lane and score. Marta will be a very interchangeable player on both ends of the court."

Standing at 6-foot, Fife continues the trend of length for the 2022 class. There was not an award she fell short of in junior year at Liberty Christian School. Leading LCS to a 21-5 record with a 5-0 league record, she was named Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 6A Female Athlete of the Year in addition to all the awards that lead up to that like all-tournament team, first-team all-state, all-district, and District MVP. She scored 37 points in a game, while averaging 20.0 ppg, 10 rpg and shot 49% from floor. Her height was an asset in more than just basketball. She was an all-state volleyball player, leading her team to a 2020 state title. She follows the basketball footsteps her older siblings, Dylan and Summer, who played at Southwestern Christian (Okla.) and at Sam Houston State, respectively.

"Jadyn is a player who can be productive from many spots on the floor," Williams said. "Her ability to score around the basket as well as play on the perimeter fits nicely with the Ram system. Jadyn has a great desire to win and we love her ability to impact a game in different ways.
